Choosing your lenses
Our qualified dispensing opticians will be able to help you with any questions you may have about different types of lenses but here’s a brief description of what they all do.
Single Vision lenses
Used for correcting one type of visual impairment, whether short sight, long sight or near sight (reading). Single vision lenses can be made in a range of materials, which vary in thickness from standard to the latest thinner and lighter.
Bifocal lenses
Bifocals combine your distance and reading prescriptions into one lens, so you can focus near and far just by looking through different parts of the lens. They come in a range of bifocal shapes and like single vision lenses, can be made from thinner and lighter materials.
Varifocal lenses
A modern, youthful alternative to bifocals, varifocals combine your distance and reading prescription into one lens, without the distinctive line separating the two parts. They come in a range of materials and designs and can also be made from thinner and lighter materials. We recommend Varilux, the world’s leading brand of varifocal lens because they are easy to get used to. Varilux varifocal lenses use the latest digital technology to individually design your lenses, giving you vision without compromise. That means natural vision for far, near and in between combined with greater clarity and comfort. Find out more on the Varilux website.
Computer lenses
Designed for people who need reading glasses but who also use a computer and need to see just a bit further than their reading glasses allow. Computer lenses are the ultimate in flexibility for office work and are great for other uses like cooking and business meetings.
Transitions lenses
Automatically adjust from clear to dark. They are available in a wide range of colours and also in thinner and lighter lens materials. Transitions lenses also protect your eyes from damaging UV rays. Find out more on the Transitions website.
Polarised sunglass lenses
Most of our prescription sunglasses are polarised which makes them more than just standard sunglasses. They eliminate glare, enhance colour and contrast whilst protecting your eyes from damaging UV rays. Polarised lenses are available in single vision and varifocal designs and they come in a range of colours and also in thinner and lighter lens materials. Find out more on the Xperio website.
Reflection free lenses
You can enhance your visual experience and the look of your glasses by choosing CrizalForte UV reflection free lenses. Most of our lenses are reflection free as standard. One of the major benefits is that they come with a 2 year no quibble guarantee against scratching. Find out more on the Crizal UV website.
